Mirror Dinghy Sailing

The Mirror is the World's most popular double handed sailing dinghy, low in price, light, seaworthy and easy to sail, the Mirror quickly achieved its objectives. Probably responsible for introducing more people to the delights of sailing than any other design, some have even gone on to win Olympic medals, the latest being Paul Goodison taking Gold in China. The Mirror is a real proper little boat, with its deep 'sit-in' cockpit, that inspires confidence for sailors of all ages and abilities, easy to sail but a challenge to sail well.

About The Ireland Trophy

Presented by the Mirror Class Association of Ireland.

The Tuatha De Danaan having lost their kingship of Ireland to the Gaels elected a new king.  He was Bov Deareg and his rival for the kingship had four beautiful children three boys and Fiachra, Aodh and Conn and one daughter Fionnuala. Their mother, Aev died and Lir deciding that his children needed a mother married Aoife sister of Aev. She however became jealous of the children’s beauty and took the children to lough Derravaragh, the lake of Oaks and cast a magic spell to turn
them into swans.

“For three hundred years you will remain on the Lake of Oaks; for three hundred years you will go to the Isle of Maoile between Ireland and Scotland: and for three hundred years you will remain at Innes Gluaire, on the wild north coast of Ireland. You will not get human form again until the end of this time when you will hear a bell chiming in honour of God, three times each day. It is with flocks of birds now your cries will be heard forever”
