All National Mirror Class Associations (NCAs) have been balloted on six proposed changes to the class rules:
- Remove the need for annual buoyancy tests. Boats will still have to past a buoyancy test when they first undergo certification control (i.e. get measured).
- Allow ratchet blocks on the spinnaker sheets
- Allow the jib tack downhaul to have a purchase of 2:1
- On wooden boats, allow the keelband to be formed by the join between the bottom panels, the bottom and the aft edge of the skeg. Allow more options for keelband material (e.g. plastic, wood, filler,….).
- Allow sail battens to be left in place during certification control & equipment inspection (i.e. measurement).
- Allow attachments on the mainsail for reefing cringles, reefing points, attaching flags & a tack tie
These proposals were accepted unanimously by the NCAs.
A new version of the class rules incorporating these changes has been passed to World Sailing for approval.
